Looking for a DVD Board Game

Greetings!

Looking for a DVD board game? I found a couple myself.

Actually, the concept of combining a board game with some sort of video aide is not new. The first board game that I am aware of, that used this multimedia approach was the famous "Nightmare", which was later on followed by "Atmostfear".

Good stuff for adults. Not so good for kiddies! They go and hide themselves under the bed sheets after playing, and having nightmares, and keeping you up all night assuring them that the "Gate keeper" won't come for them.

Of course, everybody know that the Gatekeeper "Will" come for them... ;-)

DVD then came to the picture, and Nightmare disappeared from the market, leaving its predecessor (Atmost fear) to cover the DVD board game market.

But last year, I saw a different dvd board game: Scene it!

I love the concept!

Basically, you get to see scenes from your favorite (Hollywood) movies as you and your friends race around the game board.

You put the Scene It DVD into your player and set up the board, either for a long or short game.

Once you're all set up, you get to watch movie clips and try to answer movie trivia questions about the scenes shown to you. The questions ask you stuff about films, scenes, actors, famous lines, and that sort of thing.

If you're not good at movies trivia, this game will help you become a movie buff.

But the fun does not stop there. You can get a Deluxe version of this game, and even an expansion pack (or "sequel") to add more trivia questions ans scenes.

You can have as little as 2 players, or as many as 4. You could have more, but the trivia becomes too messy, and too many excited arguments arise. So, you're better off with lesser numbers.

The tokens are very cute, and movie themed (e.g. pop corn, film reel, and movie camera).

But wait! There is more!

Scene it has "evolved" into different themed sets:

Disney Scene it
Scene it Jr
Scene it TV edition
Scene it 007 edition

You get the drift, don't you?

  • I have just added an entry detailing 2 Star Wars Board Games with DVD. It's a Trivia Pursuit about the 6 movies by Lucas, and it looks awesome! I don't have a copy yet, but rest assured that I'll be chasing one till I get it!
