CSI Board Game: A Detective Board Game For Fun

This week I want to talk about one of the most popular games of the year: The CSI Board Game

This could be regarded as a game for those who are addicted to the CSI TV series and, tell you what... it does help knowing where the characters come from, so that you can play this game at your best.

The game is basically a detective game, where players collect evidence from a crime.

The Board Game is fun, interactive, and intriguing. It emulates the CSI TV show, and it allows you to experience the excitement of solving a crime. If you have the knack for solving mysteries, this game may be for you.

The object of the game is to be the first player to enter Grissom's Office with a correct Arrest Warrant proving means, motive and opportunity.

To win the game, the players (or investigators) compete to collect evidence from 7 crime lab divisions: Interrogation (no torture allowed, of course), autopsy, identification, trace, ballistics, forensics, and DNA.

It is full on!

It (the game) comes with the following gear:

Eight crime stories with 24 suspect and evidence cards
A CSI handbook,
4 arrest warrants,
4 playing pieces
Eight CSI character choices and
1 die

This is a game for 2 to 4 players. More players would make this thing messy.

I think the best part of this game is that players get to learn about methods of crime investigation: how crimes are investigated and solved using old and the latest investigation techniques.

One of the little problems I see with the CSI board game is that it only has eight crime stories. After you've solved all the stories, it is not fun any more.

However, there is now an expansion pack with more crime stories and other props, which will extend the life of your CSI board game.

A word of warning, though: The game can be complicated for youngsters. It has been rated as good for aged 13 or over, but some adults may still find it difficult to follow.

The speed of the game is also an issue. It tends to be slow, and your chances of winning are related to whether or not you land in one of the spaces allowing you to collect an evidence card before somebody else does.

Having said that, if you are a CSI fan, or if you are interested in a game that teaches you some science, this game may be good for you.

Have a fun time!

Jeff
